Poland, World War II. Innocent and naive 8-year-old Bruno is bored and restless in his new home. Ignoring his mother, he sets off on an adventure in the woods. I found this DVD in the children's section of the library. It is DEFINITELY not for children! As the other reviews say, it is a heart-breaking story about the Nazi death camps. The two young boys are excellent, with the innocence of children becoming the victim of adults' prejudice and stupidity. I recommend it to anyone, especially those who may need a reminder not to let these things happen again.

This movie should be seen for it's historical perspective, as it sends a powerful message to those who passively ignore great evils.

This movie is ok. Things could have been done better to make this movie more in-depth and sophisticated. The ending is a good one though.

My wife and I watched this in the theater a number of years ago. Needless to say it was a shocking movie. Everybody should watch this to make sure the root causes of this are never repeated. By root causes I mean: overbearing BIG government that wants to run everybody's life and people letting them do it. I just had to comment when I saw this go up on the site.

One of those movies you start with very little expectations, yet stuns you with the message. Anything about the concentration camps is very depressing, but this one truly demonstrates how souless the whole piece of history was than.

Neither true to life nor particularly believable.
