Some Like It Hot has an offbeat script that somehow works through the movie. How this is done is hard to know given the odd subplots. Two down and out musicians witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and are on the run from the Mob. In order to get out town quickly Jerry (Geraldine) and Joe (Josephine) cross-dress into an all female band headed to Miami that features Marilyn Monroe as the lead singer. Curtis falls for Monroe and tries to woo her posing as a rich playboy while Lemmon does have an aging playboy that pursues him in his female personality. Then the mob shows up at the resort where they are playing. Despite being filmed in black and white (1959 release date) this film does deserve the title "Classic" because after seeing it multiple times there is still a sense of wonder that the actors and director keep a narrative light and funny that in other hands could have been disasterous.

I could not laugh at the violence, stupidity and sexism of this era. Really this movie is an expensive production of a bedroom farce. It is embarrassing to watch it.

"Some Like it Hot" is packed with laughs. Marilyn Monroe has the part of a lifetime as Sugar Kane Kowalczyk. As a singer in a all female band she soon has two new band members in Jack Lemon and Tony Curtis. They go by the names of Josephine and Daphne and dress as women and talk like women to avoid being recognized by the mob. I can't say more than that for fear of ruining the movie for you. Director Billy Wilder put together a great cast with George Raft, George Kennedy and Joe E. Brown. The later really has some great moments in the film. The script was wonderfully written by Bill Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond. Cinematographer Charles Lang had his work cut out for him with scenes on a train. Watch for Marilyn singing such songs as "Running Wild", "I'm Through With Love" and "I Want to Be Loved By You". It is a wild madcap comedy that is in a class of it's own. Few comedies will ever be a funny as "Some Like It Hot"!

Thirty pounds overweight (supposedly pregnant during shooting) and Monroe was still about the hottest (and thanks to the genuineness of her delivery, in my opinion, also the best) actress of all time. There also aren’t many comedies funnier than Some Like it Hot and it holds up to repeat viewings amazingly well.

I love old movies and this movie did not disappoint. Jack Lemmon is great in this movie and although at times, the characters were a little cheesy, the overall story and comedy was good.

Perhaps it is just me but I find this black-and-white comedy to be one of the weaker films by master director Billy Wilder. However, seeing Monroe on the big screen is always a bonus.

Still a great movie, years on. Great interview with Tony Curtis in the Extras. He must have seen this movie a hundred times because he knew all the great lines.

I recently became interested in Marilyn Monroe after having seen "My Week with Marilyn." I believe that "Some Like it Hot" was very well done. It is quite funny, and the sets are simply luxurious. I was surprised at the revealing clothes Marilyn wore however, especially at the time the film came out (1959).

My favorite Marilyn Monroe movie so far (haven't seen 'em all though). Very funny and entertaining. Definitely worth watching!
