Boring, predictable and bland. Johnny Depp is creepy as he is in all his movies. Forgettable.

On my first viewing, Leslie Caron was still so mesmerizing, that I had to watch it over to get into the story. On each repeated visit I found something else of interest. One of those films I can watch annually and enjoy it every time.

A beautiful character study, wonderfully cast, and magical. One of those rare movies that really gets inside and lifts the spirits.

One of my favourite movies, part allegory, part romance, and a little bit surreal. Rich visuals, especially the birthday party. Prepare to be hungry.

Wonderful! The entire plot line was interesting and enticing and you really felt for the characters. Johnny Depp, of course, performed his role beautifully. Definitely recommend it!

Like chocolate, this tantalizing movie is sensual and rich and intensely pleasurable. I was lucky enough to have seen it originally on the big screen, where the music and visuals swept me up onto a cloud of fairytale-like wonder from the very start. A valentine for all lovers.

Need a movie to watch with culture, sensuality, romance and substance? As the lead character would say, "Try this one; it's your favourite." The entire cast of _Chocolat_ turn in charming performances. Particularly notable are those from Juliette Binoche - who creates a complex, flawed mother with a witchy cackle to match her sorcercy with chocolate - and Carrie Ann Moss, who was so in-character as a cold, proper widow that I didn't even recognize her until my second viewing. Depp's spoken lines may not leap to memory immediately, but his physical presence as a sex symbol is stronger here than in almost all his work since, and his chemistry with Binoche at times nearly literally crackles. Sweet without being saccharine, this atmospheric, sensual film is just the way to shake off the late-fall blahs.

Decadent in a heart-warming way. Best to see in the fall with a cup of homemade cocoa - and served by a strikingly handsome gypsey man!

I watched this years ago, but only recently read the book, so I decided to watch it again. This is a wonderful movie - beautifully shot, beautifully acted. And, cliché, I know, but I craved chocolate the whole time.

A briliant film. Surprisingly, I didn't think Johnny Depp's acting really stood out in this one, but Binoche, on the other hand, really made the film, along with Judie Dench and Lena Olin. This movie really got me wanting to go make chocolates. Go see it.
