Add a QuoteRay: "Why didn't you wave hello to me today when I waved hello to you today?" Jimmy: "I was on a very strong horse tranquilizer today... Wasn't waving hello to anybody. Except... maybe to a horse." Ray: "Huh? What are you talking about?" Jimmy: "Just horsesh*t." Ray: "You from America?" Jimmy: "Yeah. Don't hold it against me." Ray: "Well, that's for me to decide, isn't it? You from America too?" Denise: "No, I'm from Amsterdam." Ray: "Amsterdam! Amsterdam's just a lot of bloody prostitutes, isn't it?" Denise: "Yes, that's why I came to Bruges. I thought I'd get a better price for my p*ssy here." Ray: "Hey? ...You two are weird. Would you like some cocaine?"
Ken: Your girlfriend's very pretty. Jimmy: She's ain't my girlfriend. She's a prostitute I just picked up. Ken: I was not aware that there were any prostitutes in Bruges. Jimmy: You just have to look in the right places... brothels are good. Ken: Well, you've picked up a very pretty prostitute. Jimmy: Thank you.
Ken: Coming up? Ray: What's up there? Ken: The view. Ray: The view of what? The view of down here? I can see that down here. Ken: Ray, you are about the worst tourist in the whole world. Ray: Ken, I grew up in Dublin. I love Dublin. If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, Bruges might impress me but I didn't, so it doesn't.
[first lines] Ray: After I killed him, I dropped the gun in the Thames, washed the residue off me hands in the bathroom of a Burger King, and walked home to await instructions. Shortly thereafter the instructions came through - "Get the f**k out of London, you dumb f**ks. Get to Bruges." I didn't even know where Bruges f**king was. [pause] Ray: It's in Belgium.

Add a CommentIt's fun, it's dark, it's over the top, it's deep, it's violent, it's a terrifically good film. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson have extraordinary chemistry, aided and abetted by a well-written script and brilliant direction, along with the much-maligned Bruges scenery. There is also also a perfectly nuanced performance by Ralph Fiennes as a crime boss, The dialogue is reminiscent of Damon Runyon, the violence of Tarantino without his excesses. Try to watch this with friends.
One of the best films I have ever seen and I am a tough critic.
boring and dumb....stupid movie :(
I thoroughly enjoyed this hitman dramedy, written and directed by Martin McDonagh. Really funny and suspenseful. Colin Farrell is superb; he really shows his chops with his hysterical facial expressions, and some truly emotional scenes. Brendan Gleeson is genuinely likeable (check him out in "The General"); and Ralph Fiennes surprised me as the unforgiving crime boss. I look forward to McDonagh's new film, again w/Farrell, "Seven Psychopaths". FIVE STARS.
This is a very dark comedy, perhaps the darkest I've seen, but it all leads to a great ending. There are some disturbing images that some people may not wish to see. It's not for children.
I am embarrassed to admit that I loved this movie. It has foul language throughout, it's racist, sexist, pokes fun at just about every group which is the usual butt of jokes, is graphically violent, insults one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited, and it's absolutely hilarious. The script and acting have antic qualities worthy of Monty Python and sly visual jokes which whiz by so fast I was doing double takes of delayed appreciation. Colin Farrell's eyebrows deserved a special Academy Award of their own.
wow harry potters voldamort and mad eye..such differ ent roles ..great from the start
A wonderful travelogue of Bruges...together with interesting characters and story line ....shades of Tarantino.
Very quirky, very funny, very good! Touches of Tarantino here and there. Bruge is certainly on my travel list after seeing this movie. Loved the black humour!!!
I really enjoyed this movie even though this movie changes tempo in the final half hour becoming more action orientated, and to me that is the weakest part. But the ending itself is perfect for the film. I would recommend this to fans of dark comedies as well as to fans of the action genre.
